• FBC Jackson kids

The kids' ministry of FBC is a vital part of the greater whole of the church. We strive to lovingly guide our children on their own personal journey of faith by modeling what a follower of Christ looks like while teaching all who are a part of our ministry on an age appropriate level. We want kids to see how God's Word fits in to their lives, to learn how to talk to him, and to build friendships that will last. Our belief is that each and every child is a precious gift from God and our focus is to point these children to Christ through care and instruction.

  • Refuge student ministry (coltontaunton@gmail.com)

Our Focus: The Students involved in Refuge Student Ministries would discover a faith of their own that will prepare them for a lifetime of ministry and influence.

We strive to see this happen by focusing on 3 principles:

We want to create an environment where you can come, be yourself and be welcomed. A safe place. We want to help navigate you through a journey of faith in Jesus Christ so that when you graduate out of our student ministry, you will have a solid foundation in Christ to help guide you in the future.

CONNECT — We want to be a part of a ministry where you can come and connect with God through solid Biblical teaching, meaningful interactions with caring adults and with one another in real, authentic, accountable relationships.

GROW — We desire to give you a place where you can grow in your personal walk with Christ through Bible studies focused on what you are going through and through opportunities for service.

    Weekday Ministries Summary

    Refuge @ the Chapel @ 6:30 p.m.

The goal of Wednesday nights is to be the “open door” of our ministry as a student can walk in the door at anytime and quickly be assimilated into what we are doing. Our Wednesday night gathering purpose is to provide a student worship service with our student praise band leading our time of corporate worship. Our worship time is followed by various series and messages geared for students to connect with the Scripture on their level.

Sunday School @ 9:45 in the Chapel

The goal of Sunday mornings is for our students to study God’s Word in a small group setting with an adult small group leader facilitating this time. The material we are using in this small group time is Lifeway’s The Gospel Project. This material is very theologically driven and is giving both our teachers and students opportunities to grow “deep” as they study together.

    D Groups @ 6 p.m. in the Grounds

The goal of Sunday night D groups is to provide some topical discipleship material for our students to help them deepen their personal walks with Christ. These studies are typically short in nature which provide us with the opportunity to study various issues that students may be going through. Right now we are going through the Book of Colossians.

  • Women's ministry

Our purpose in Rooted Women’s Ministry is to reach out to women in our community of all ages and encourage them to join with us in Bible study, prayer and simple fun and fellowship.  Paul encouraged women in Titus 2 to teach, nurture and help each other become mature Christians.  We provide women with opportunities to get together as sisters in the Lord – where loving Jesus is our common bond.  Outreach is the natural action for spiritually grounded women who are sure of who they are in Christ and have the love of the Lord flowing through them.  Our ministry is part of the total ministry of First Baptist Jackson and helps all of us to pull together and better reflect the image of God.

  • The Senior Adult Ministry at ministry is vitally important to who we are as a church. Our goal is to challenge those that are in the “Second Half” of life to make it their best half. It should be a time of “ReFirement” not retirement! No conversations about rocking on the front porch will be found here! At FBC, we seek to encourage senior adults to find out what God wants them to be doing in their “Second Half” and then help equip them to do it. Giving our members hands-on mission opportunities is the heart and soul of this ministry. Whether it is through mission trips, carrying meals to those in our area who cannot make a meal for themselves, or spending time with those who are homebound, our 55+ Ministry actively gives a tangible touch of Jesus’ love to our community and beyond. In addition to the many mission opportunities and fellowship activities, we actively study God’s Word. At FBC, we provide Bible study for couples and singles in the 55+ area. Senior adults are all about making a difference for God in our world, not only in the second half – but the “Best Half of Life”!

  • At FBC Jackson we make worship through music a priority! We follow God’s Word as we sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs (Colossians 3:16). Our praise and worship through music is powerful and guided by the Holy Spirit.

Choir In the Old Testament, God instituted the choir to lead and enhance our worship (I Chronicles 15:16). FBC choir is comprised of believers who sense God has called them to be “SINGERS UNTO THE LORD”. They are the backbone of our worship leadership and God is using them mightily. Our rehearsal is on Wed evenings at 7pm.

Occasionally, we have special ensembles lead the congregation in worship through song and instrumental music. These ensembles play a wide variety of genres of music and are always a blessing to the congregation.

We currently use a variety of  instruments in our worship services. There's always a place for one more.

Over the past few years, children's choir has been conducted in the schools during the school day. This year, children's choir will be moved back to FBC as an after-school program. Choir will meet on Wednesdays @ 4PM. All kids in 4years-6th grade are welcome!

If you are interested in participating in any of our groups, please contact Brian Jemison at 246-4491.
