  • Dr. Rob Jackson

    Interim Pastor

    State Missionary Rob Jackson is director of the Office of Evangelism & Church Health. He previously served with the State Board of Missions in the Office of Evangelism from 1999 to 2003 and as director of the Office of Church Health from 2021 to 2024. Rob also served 15 years as pastor of Central Baptist Church in Decatur and eight years as associate pastor at Buck Run Baptist Church in Frankfort, Kentucky. He holds a Ph.D. and master of divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and a pharmacy degree from Samford.


    Rob and his wife Tonya are members at First Baptist Church, Prattville. They have one daughter, Abigail.

  • Jordan Matheson

    Associate Pastor

    Jordan serves as our Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church to care for our next generation of believers. Jordan joined the team in February of 2023. He has been serving in full-time vocational ministry since 2016. Jordan married his high school sweetheart, Taylor, in 2018, and they have one son named Beckham (2022). He grew up close to the Jackson area in Leroy. Following high school, Jordan attended Alabama Southern Community College (now Coastal Alabama Community College), where he received his associate’s degree. Upon completion, he transferred to the University of Mobile, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Theology. Currently, Jordan is working towards his Master of Divinity degree online through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jordan is passionate about seeing teenagers in the greater Jackson and Clarke County area transformed by the Gospel.

  • Dr. Brian Jemison

    Minister of music & Senior adults

    Brian has served First Baptist Church as the worship pastor for the past twenty-four years and as the senior adult pastor for the past fifteen years. His love for Jackson has extended from First Baptist into the community, having served in various civic organizations such as the Jackson Medical Center Auxiliary and the Kiwanis Club of Jackson. Brian and Tammie, a longtime Registered Nurse, raised both their children in Jackson and are thankful to the church and community folks for their godly influence in their family’s lives. Brian received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and, most recently, in 2022, graduated with a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the same institution. He is passionate about the worship of the church, seeking to ensure that the songs used in worship reflect sound theological teaching that glorifies God.

  • Christa Galbraith

    children's Ministry director

    Christa grew up in West Tennessee in Decatur County. She serves as the Children's Director here at FBCJ and has since 2022. She has been a member of FBCJ since 2021. Christa received her B.A. in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resource Management and a Minor in Marketing from the University of Mississippi in 2013. She has furthered her education at Colorado Christian University online by taking classes on the Old Testament, New Testament, and The History of Christianity in 2021. Christa met her husband, Michael, (a Thomasville, AL native) in Tennessee and they've been married since 2016. They have 4 children: Jack (2017), Beau (2019), Charles (2020), and Carolann (2023). Christa loves outdoor activities, gardening, reading, and teaching children the Bible. She’s dedicated to teaching children about God’s Word, laying a foundation for their personal faith in Jesus.

  • Melody Breaux

    Mother's Day Out/4k Director

    Melody serves as the Mom’s Day Out Director and 4K Teacher in our Weekday Preschool Program and has since 2019.  She has been a member of FBCJ since August of 2014. Melody received her B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in Math from Northwestern State University in 1999.  She also received a Master’s degree in Special Education in 2001 and a Specialist Degree in Early Childhood Intervention in 2002.  She has taught preschool and kindergarten for many years and loves spending her days teaching children.  Melody has been married to her husband Bob for 33 years and they have lived in Alabama for the past 20 years.  They have 3 daughters:  Caroline who is a student an Auburn University and twins, Lily and Lucy who are in high school.  Melody loves reading, watching her girls play sports, traveling, crafts, and baking.

    Dawn is originally from Jackson and currently resides in Leroy. After graduating from Jackson High School, she pursued higher education at Coastal Alabama Community College, where she earned a degree in General Studies. She then moved on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship at the University of South Alabama. Dawn is actively involved at Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson, where she participates in the Young Adult Ministry. Outside of her professional career, she has been coaching at Gymnastics Unlimited in Jackson for the past six years. Dawn is also looking forward to her upcoming marriage in April of 2026! She is grateful for the opportunity to serve as secretary and looks forward to supporting the church staff and congregation.

  • Rebekah presswood

    pianist

    Rebekah Presswood is a D.M.A. Candidate in Choral Conducting at The University of Southern Mississippi. She holds degrees in music from The University of Alabama and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is an accomplished pianist with teaching and collaborative experience. She has accompanied churches, theater programs, and choirs. Rebekah has teaching experience with both private lessons in piano and violin, as well as in the classroom, where she teaches collegiate Ear Training. She has been involved in and conducted choirs throughout her Master's degree program at NOBTS and continues to do so at USM. She is passionate about church music and using music to honor and glorify God.
